How Often Should a Church Be Cleaned?
Frequency follows how the building is used each week. These are the common patterns; the walkthrough confirms which one fits your building.
| Schedule | Fits a Building That | Typical Visit |
|---|---|---|
| Once a week | Holds one main weekend service and light weekday use. | Late in the week, so rooms are ready for the weekend. |
| Twice a week | Holds several weekend services, a staffed nursery, fellowship meals or busy weekday programs. | Late in the week, plus a reset after Sunday. |
| Event visits | Hosts a wedding, funeral, holiday service or community meal. | A separate visit, added once you send the date. |
Scheduling Around Services and Events
Most churches want the building ready before the main weekend service and reset after it. Common patterns are a visit late in the week before weekend services, a reset after Sunday, or both.
Weddings, funerals and special services can be added as separate visits once you send the date. Tell us about weekday programs, such as preschool, youth nights or recovery meetings, so cleaning never overlaps a gathering. For Christmas and Easter, send your service schedule early; a regular visit that lands on a holiday moves 24 to 48 hours before or after it.
Nursery and Children's Areas
Nurseries and classrooms get the most hands-on contact in the building. We clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces there, such as door handles, light switches, tabletops, sink handles and changing-table surfaces, using EPA-registered disinfectants. Children's areas are cleaned when no classes are in session.
Toys, cribs and nap mats are cleaned only when the proposal lists them, so your children's ministry lead decides what we handle and what volunteers keep.
Volunteers and Professional Cleaning
Many congregations keep some tasks with volunteers, such as resetting chairs, washing communion ware or tidying classrooms after Sunday school. Tell us at the walkthrough which rooms and tasks stay with your volunteer team. The proposal lists only the work we do, so nothing is cleaned twice and nothing falls between the two.
Sacred Items, Sound Booths and What Stays Untouched
Whether your congregation calls it a sanctuary, prayer hall or worship center, some items are never ours to handle. Mark them at the walkthrough: altars, communion ware, scrolls and religious texts, vestments, artwork, candles, instruments, the sound and livestream booth, and any prayer rugs or carpets with special care instructions.
That list goes into the proposal, and cleaners work around it on every visit.
Who Approves the Work and Holds Access
Church buildings often have several groups using the same rooms. Settle these before the first visit.
| Item | Confirm the Details |
|---|---|
| Scope And Changes | Whether the administrator, facilities lead or board approves the scope and later changes. |
| Event Calendar | Who sends wedding, funeral and special-service dates, and how. |
| Keys And Alarm | Which doors we use, who issues keys and alarm codes, and how the building is locked on exit. |
| Shared Use | If a preschool, school or other group uses the building, who covers their rooms. |
| Restroom Supplies | Who buys paper goods and soap, and whether restocking is in the proposal. |
