Before The Walkthrough
- Confirm whether the project is a renovation, new build, tenant improvement, or partial-room remodel.
- Identify the cleaning phase: rough clean, final clean, or touch-up.
- Share the square footage, occupancy status, target handoff date, and site-access rules.
- Confirm which trades will still be working after the clean.
Define The Cleaning Boundary
Post-construction cleaning is not the same as debris hauling, hazardous-material remediation, duct cleaning, or completing a contractor's punch-list repairs. Those responsibilities should be assigned before the cleaning proposal is approved.
Final-Detail Areas To Review
- Fine dust on horizontal surfaces, cabinet faces, trim, doors, and ledges.
- Stickers and removable residue within the agreed scope.
- Interior glass, fixtures, floors, and hard-to-reach finish details.
- Cabinet and appliance interiors only when included in the written proposal.
- Entry paths and final presentation areas needed for handoff.
Protect New Finishes
New stone, millwork, stainless steel, coated fixtures, glass, and flooring can be damaged by the wrong product or tool. Identify specialty finishes during the walkthrough, share manufacturer requirements when available, and separate cleaning from restoration work.
Schedule The Clean After The Dust-Making Work
A final clean cannot stay final if sanding, cutting, or punch work resumes immediately afterward. Build enough time for the agreed cleaning scope, a final check, and any touch-up before the owner, tenant, buyer, or inspector arrives.
